A Huge Boost in Vonage Sales Due to SunRocket Shut-Down

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

This week marked a victory for Vonage. Since the shut-down of SunRocket last Monday, Vonage sales have soared. Despite the fact that SunRocket promoted 2 other companies to their customers (Packet 8 Phone Service & TeleBlend), many former SunRocket customers have made the switch to Vonage.

The Tuesday and Wednesday after SunRocket’s power down, Vonage picked up an amazing 11,000 new customers. Things went great in just the first 2 days, and continue to go well even until now. Vonage is pleased that so many people have been able to make the switch to their service and enjoy the reliability and features that come with it. It has been a victorious week at Vonage.

For now it looks like sales will remain above normal. For people that have not yet switched over from SunRocket, they will have until August 5th to do so. On that day, SunRocket will shut down all operation. Vonage is still offering a special promotion to customers who switch over now. To take advantage of this great opportunity, act now. This special promotion can be found here. The promotion includes 2 months of free service.

Vonage Caller ID Block

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Another one of Vonage’s many free features, Caller ID Block is ranked among the favorites. This feature allows a customer making a call to block all of their information (such as name and telephone) from the receiving party. This can be perfect when having to call someone you don’t want to have your information such as a company whose list you don’t want to be on; or a person that irritates you. It is also perfect if you or someone in your house has to make a call and you would like the location to be anonymous. The best part of course, as is mentioned above, it’s completely free! Just dial *67 to activate the ID block and the the regular number. There really is nothing worse than somebody calling you back that you don’t want to hear from.

SunRocket to Vonage, Now Is The Time

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

On July 16, 2007, to the the terror of all SunRocket customers, the company ceased all operations with no announcement. If someone tries to call the service center to see why their phone stopped working, all they will hear is an automated message saying, “no longer taking customer service or sales calls.” This is the result of the abrupt termination of all employees earlier this week. Now, unfortunately, it is only a matter of time before all SunRocket customers are without service. This naturally, in a technology based world, places a lot of pressure on all former customers, residential and businesses alike, to find a new VoIP service quickly. Now is the time to decide. SunRocket will be referring their customers to various other companies so they can continue to enjoy the benefits of VoIP. However, right now, Vonage is offering a special promotion to customers that change over. Vonage rates, features, and customer service are hard to beat.

VoIP

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol had recently become a very popular type of telephone service. In simpler terms, it is a phone service that can be used over the internet. It is generally significantly cheaper than a regular phone services and also offers a lot more features. Although VoIP is a relatively new consumer service, the idea is not so old. VoIP can be viewed as the commercial outcome of the experimental “Network Voice Protocol” invented in 1973 for the ARPANET providers. Many people these a days are switching over from their regular phone service to VoIP in an effort to make their phone bill cheaper and make life a little simpler. There are many companies already competing for customers in this niche, but the company ranked #1 is Vonage. They offer many convenient services which make the switch easy and the useability satisfying. For example, when switching over, you can probably keep the same telephone number. Long distance is completely free. Even international rates are very cheap or even free.

Vonage Text

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Although Vonage offers many features with their VoIP plans, there are a few that stand out and above the rest. One of these such features is Vonage Text. Just by looking at the name of the feature, I thought it was just some kind of new text messaging service, but after reading what it really is, I couldn’t wait to try it. Vonage text is perfect for people who are tired of listening to voice mail, but even for people like me, who actually enjoy voicemail, Vonage Text still has huge advantages. Vonage Text automatically transcribes your voice-mails to text so that you can read them right from your e-mail. This makes it easy to check your voice mail in noisy restaurants or airports since you can read it and don’t have to listen to it. It’s not necessary to waste time taking notes on important messages anymore either, cause it’s all in your e-mail. For me, it cuts down the time it takes to check voice-mail since it’s generally faster to read than to listen to someone’s sometimes way too long message. Text really is another great way that Vonage has made organizing your life just a little bit easier.

Vonage and Verizon Battle it Out.

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

As is well known, Verizon filed a lawsuit against Vonage on June 19, 2006. To many people, news of this lawsuit wasn’t too shocking since Vonage is the number 1 digital phone service right now. Some feel that Verizon attacked mainly because Vonage is one of their leading competitors in VoIP. The charge was the Vonage had infringed on several of Verizon’s patents related to voice over internet phone services. With this accusation, Vonage responded that “its services have been developed with its own technology and technology licensed from third parties.” With this said, Vonage responded that they would defend themselves against the lawsuit. On 8 March 2007, the jury found Vonage guilty of infringing 3 of Verizon’s patents out the the original 7 that were at debate. They were ordered to pay $58 million dollars to Verizon and also a 5.5% loyalty rate of every sale to a Vonage customer. On April 6th a judge issued an injunction to ban Vonage to ban Vonage from signing up new customers, but shortly after on the April 24th, The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. retracted that injunction giving Vonage a permanent stay on the VoIP market. Reading about the lawsuit in the newspaper, one man said, “Is it really surprising that 2 companies doing the same thing would use similar technology. I don’t think the first guy to put ice cream in a cone sued the second who did the same. Can you really patent stuff like call waiting? It’s just a new spin on old technology.” Even with all the cloudy weather, Vonage is still doing very well and signing up many new subscribers every day. After all is said and done, Vonage still is number 1.
