Why Wont You Die SunRocket?
Tuesday, August 28th, 2007The other day I heard that SunRocket is trying to sue Vonage and the first thing that came to my mind was an Austin Powers movie. It was the one where some lady gets shot about a 100 times and won’t die, to which Austin screams, “Why won’t you DIE!” I couldn’t help but see the connections between this part of the movie and SunRocket.
Number 1 - The lady that won’t die is evil. So is SunRocket. SunRocket knew that they were going under at least a month before they abruptly did. They had meetings with Vonage about selling over their customer list. Why? Cause they knew they were not going to last much longer. Why didn’t they say anything? Cause they’re evil. SunRocket is trying to sue Vonage becuase they “stole” their “deserted” customers.
Number 2 - The lady that won’t die should have been dead and out of the way. Same with SunRocket. Usually when someone gets shot a hundred times they usually are no longer capable of doing things such a living. However this lady was still involved in the battle. With SunRocket in the coffin, I would think that they wouldn’t be able to perform any sort of action like this either. Personally, I feel there should be some kind of law against a bankrupt company suing other companies. Especially companies that did not perform a legit shut down.
Number 3 - The lady that wont die is meant to be humorous. As far as I can tell, SunRocket is also trying to be humorous. As a matter of fact, when I read about this, I laughed more than I did when I saw this particular scene in Austin Powers. So they did a good job there.
Number 4 - There is no logic behind the lady that won’t die. There’s isn’t any logic in SunRockets reasoning either.
which leads to…..
Number 5 - The lady that won’t die, lost. So will SunRocket. There is no way that this will stand up in court. Especially since Vonage legally acquired the customer list in the first place.
It really is quite remarkable that SunRocket is doing something like this. Instead of just sticking it to their customers once, they want to do it twice. Here’s the true story of Nik Simmons from Houston
“I had SunRocket when they suddenly went out of business. It was bad enough that they didn’t let us know they were going to disappear, but the kicker is that a week before they went out, they charged my credit card for the next years service. I guess billing is the last department they wrongfully fired. Anyways, now I am happily with Vonage. My connection is far better and I enjoy all the extra features. I am in my own happy little world again, and BAM, my former VoIP company tries to sue my current one! Ridiculous. Fortunately there is no way SunRocket will last more than 10 minutes in the courtroom.”
So all of that only leaves one question in mind. “Why won’t you die SunRocket?”
A lawsuit between Sprint and Vonage is now scheduled for September. Sprint is claiming that Vonage has infringed on 7 of their patents. Does this sound familiar? It seems that a lot of companies are out to kill off the competition. Last year, Verizon filed a lawsuit against Vonage claiming that 7 of their patents had been infringed. This can’t help but give cause to the question, ‘is there any overlap in the technology behind these patents?’
