Vonage – AT&T Settlement?

Friday, November 9th, 2007

It looks like the Vonage v AT&T conflict is nearing an agreement. A rather favorable agreement at that. Vonage has stated that the deal being discussed would require a $39 million dollar settlement from the VoIP company to AT&T. Luckily, if this deal goes through, Vonage will only pay a small fraction of what they have paid to settle other suits with Verizon, Sprint, etc.

The best part about this settlement for Vonage is that the $39 million dollars will be able to be paid over a 5 year period. This will avoid drying up the cash assets of the company keeping them in cool water.

As a part of this deal Vonage would drop it’s lawsuit against AT&T. This will put an end to the long series of lawsuits Vonage has been involved in. With such a lenient deal, Vonage would be able to continue operations as normal.

Vonage has fought with fury against all of it’s competitors’ lawsuits and has come out much better in most of them than originally anticipated. Although things look very optimistic with the potential AT&T settlement, if things fall through, Vonage is ready to defend itself again.
