Stand Alone VoIP Company

With more and more companies offering VoIP these days, the competition for subscribers has become more intense among VoIP providers. Some of the biggest competitors are of course Vonage, Comcast, and AT&T. These companies have been in the past and are still each others direct competition.

Vonage is different than most VoIP providers however. What makes Vonage different is that fact that they are a stand alone VoIP company, or in other words, they specialize solely in offering VoIP service. For example, Comcast is not only a VoIP provider, but a high speed internet provider, and a digital cable TV provider. VoIP is just a small part of what they do.

So the question that many experts are asking is if VoIP as a stand alone product can still generate enough revenue to keep a company functioning profitably. With the downfall of VoIP provider SunRocket, many experts began to feel that the answer was “no”. With all the competition out there from large corporations, VoIP as a stand alone product looked like a service with an expiration date.

Many people are changing their minds though after looking at Vonage’s performance in the fourth quarter of 2007 and first part of 2008. Even after all the 2007 opposition (lawsuits) Vonage is still increasing performance as a company that only offers VoIP. It looks like in the future people are going to continue to use the VoIP provider that offers the best rates and highest quality, stand alone VoIP or not.
