Two weeks ago, Vonage settled the Sprint lawsuit over patent infringement. They agreed on an $80 million dollar settlement. A nice chunk of money thinning out Vonages assets, but very minimal compared to the other possible outcomes.
Now things are finally starting to settle down with the long Verizon battle. Vonage has agreed to pay Verizon for patent infringement, but the amount is not yet set in stone. Depending on the Appeals Court, Vonage will pay a minimum of $80 million up to almost $120 million to the communications giant. This again is a large sum of money, but probably not enough to cause any severe problems for Vonage.
Now only one lawsuit remains. That’s with AT&T. If this lawsuit is settled like the previous ones, Vonage will be able to avoid bankruptcy and therefore stay in business. The next few months will be an interesting and important time for Vonage. AT&T just filed their suit against Vonage about a week ago. Once through this things look to be smooth sailing.
